Thomas May is an assistant professor of Economics at California State University, Fullerton where he designed the data science curriculum for the College of Business and Economics. Since the majority of his students are first-generation college students or represent from marginalized populations, his curriculum focuses on equipping students with the necessary skills to immediately begin applying data science and machine learning techniques to a variety of economic issues.

In addition to academic research, Thomas brings over a decade of applying strong quantitative, computational, and predictive modeling skills to a variety of industries including government agencies, aerospace, computational biology, and monetary policy. Additionally, he has worked directly with IRS administrative tax data and the Social Security Administration, where data access is granted to only several researchers in the USA through a competitive application process.

Thomas is conversationally fluent in Chinese. In his free time, he enjoys paragliding, chess, watching documentaries, and cooking new recipes.
