Ivory Taylor (she/her) was born in Minnesota and grew up in both the metro area and the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. She was raised in a low-income, bicultural family with a disabled sibling and parent, and has also amassed an impressive personal collection of diagnoses. As a result, she has navigated various economic, housing, and disability support systems her entire life.

Currently, Ivory works as the Associate Director of the Housing Justice Center and has worked in the housing justice field for eight years. Drawing from her lived experience of housing instability and her human rights education, she’s worked to organize and support disabled renters and advocate for disability inclusion in economic, racial, and housing justice conversations. Through projects like Radical Belonging in Housing Justice and as a co-founder of Amplify MN: A Disability Justice Collective she builds coalitions and resident associations to fight displacement, poor conditions, and mismanagement.

Ivory brings the ability to distill complex and technical information into understandable and educational content. As a big systems thinker, she can identify root causes of issues and focus on solutions. She is a strong community organizer and policy advocate who centers lived experience and equity in crafting solutions that work for those most impacted. Finally, she is a direct communicator and an analytical thinker who asks thoughtful and plentiful questions. She looks forward to creating an Olmstead Plan that shifts from a focus on disability service to disability justice and incorporates what Minnesotans with disabilities need to thrive.

In her free time, Ivory likes to attend concerts, browse thrift stores for vintage treasures, and travel in order to attend concerts and browse new thrift stores for vintage treasures!
