Joy Persall is a leadership coach, and consultant focusing on transformational leadership. Joy brings a depth and breadth of experience engaging multicultural, multi-generational leaders in non-profit, philanthropic, and community-based organizations. She holds a BA in Multi-Cultural Nonprofit Administration, M.A. in Organization Management and Development, and Evidence-Based Leadership Coaching certification from Fielding Graduate University.

Joy has a long history of working as an organizer, funder, executive director and organization development leader. She has served in Executive Leadership with Dream of Wild Health, Native Americans in Philanthropy, The Headwaters Foundation, Common Counsel Foundation, and Native Voices Rising. Joy was awarded a Bush Foundation Leadership Fellowship where she focused on inclusive team process, coaching and Indigenous leadership, and began Northern Star Consulting in 2010.

Joy’s experience developing and supporting community-led programs and her commitment to family and community through seed saving leads her to work with individuals and organizations as a gardener who recognizes the seasons, the opportunities to rest, reflect, learn and change. As a woman of Ojibwe Metis’ descent, mother, grandmother, auntie, gardener, seed keeper, and friend, Joy works with individuals, teams and organizations, developing their ability to grow, learn and create new solutions in culturally grounded atmospheres of respect and love of community.
