The Dendros Group came to our rescue in style. We were less than two months away from a major national training event on parent leadership when the training coordinator suddenly decided to begin her retirement. Very little preparation had occurred and I was inclined to postpone the training until I could recruit, hire and train a replacement. But Suzann and Heidi assured me that they could pull it off by the originally scheduled date. After all they were both formerly connected to Circle of Parents -- one as an executive director of a state chapter and the latter as a Circle of Parents trainer and program manager – and they are both highly committed to the principles of shared leadership and the value of parent leadership. So I put my faith in them and was quickly reminded that faith does not disappoint. In less than six weeks, they pulled together the training team of 4 individuals from across the country, prepared the training module, recruited training participants and helped to facilitate the actual two-day event. And, they didn’t stop there. They went on to provide follow-up services including writing a report and a summary of the participant evaluations (which were extremely positive!), recommending changes to the training curriculum and gracefully transitioning everything over to our newly-hired training and technical assistance manager. Our second training, held within 3 months of the first, took place without a hitch. We will always remember Dendros for the leadership and inspiration they provided us when we “thought” we were facing a crisis.
